Staff

Through the Independent Living Project funded by FAS, LAPWD operates a personal assistant service.Until January 2000 LAPWD had no directly employed staff but operated a Community Employment scheme with 16 CE workers on a yearly basis since November 1996. A total of 16 CE workers employed including 1 Programme Manager (Supervisor), 1 administrator and 14 participant workers. The 14 participant act as PA's (personal assistants) to 13 Leaders. A Leader is a person with significant physical or sensory disability who is assisted to live independently just like everyone else with the assistance provided.

Until January 2000 LAPWD had no directly employed staff but operated a Community Employment scheme with 16 CE workers on a annual basis since November 1996. In December 1999 LAPWD secured one position on the Jobs Initiative Scheme sponspored by County Leitrim Partnership and funded by FAS. The position was filled by a Support Worker for the association. In January 2000 a Development Officer was appointed with funding from ADM and the Combat Poverty Agency through the EU special support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. When this funding ended, LAPWD secured further funding from the North Western Health Board, and in September 2001 the position was filled on a job share basis. This position encompasses the work of the previous Development Officer and the Support Worker. Funding was also secured from the Health Board for the employment of a part-time Administrator. In June 2003 the NWHB approved funding for a full time Manager. It is envisaged that the creation of this post will assist with the stability and growth of LAPWD.
