Personal Assistant Training

All Personal Assistants will be offered the opportunity to study for the National University of Ireland Maynooth Certificate of Disability Studies, soon to be changed to Certificate in Effective Independent Living. The course is made up of 16 modules:

Module 3: Philosophy and Ethos of Independent Living
Module 4: Disability Rights and Independent Living
Module 5: Promoting Effective Independent Living/ Leadership Skills
Module 6: Independent Living in Practice
Module 7: Moving and Transferring
Module 8: Health and Safety with Risk Assessment
Module 9: Wheelchair Management and Aids and Equipment
Module 10: Mobility Training
Module 11: Independent Living and Access
Module 12: Promoting Independence, Advocacy and Self-advocacy
Module 13: Relationships
Module 14: Independent Living and Inclusion
Module 15: Disability Equality and Education
Module 16: Lifelong Learning - the Next Step
