About Us
LAPWD was established in 1996 by a group of people with disabilities to promote the Philosophy of Independent Living and to put that philosophy into practice.
Our principal activity since then has been to provide the Personal Assistant service for people with physical and sensory disabilities, aged between 18 and 65, living in Co. Leitrim and surrounding areas. Our core PA service is funded by the HSE.
In 2008, LAPWD opened the Action Ability Centre in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. This is not only our head office, but also a top-quality accessible centre for training, meetings, social activities, clinics and other community events.
We are a non-profit organisation registered as a charity.
