Action Ability Centre
Located: Station Road, Mohill, Co. Leitrim
The centre is fully accessible and purpose built and developed as a community resource for people with Disabilities and the wider community.
Currently the Action Ability Centre supports the following;
- The Administrative Centre for Leitrim Association of People with Disabilities, (Leitrim Centre for Independent Living) the Personal Assistant service is managed from this centre. The Centre acts as resource information point on matters relating to disability in the county and callers will be given guidance and direction to the appropriate support.
- The training room equipped with IT equipment is used in delivering training all LAPWD employees. This space can be hired for training by outside groups and agencies. If you wish to hire the training facilities please contact us.
- The centre accommodates a range of social and recreational meetings and group activities on a weekly basis,eg,sign language,Art,Writer’s Group,Yoga,Men’s group, Photography and I nformation events.
- The Action Ability Centre also accommodates regular planned sessions by outreach workers from NCBI and Deaf-Hear to meet clients in South Leitirm.
- The HSE Community Physiotheraphy service operates from the centre.
- Our accessible minibus is used to transport members and groups to events,training or once off appointments. Membership is open to all and cost €5 per person per annum.
The Board of Directors and Manager of LAPWD are always anxious to meet with individuals and groups and provide awareness training or support to any member of the community.
